A Joplin couple, who got married on Saturday, revealed they agonised over whether to go ahead with the ceremony at all after the devastating tornado razed the city to the ground.

McKenzie 'Brooke' Watson and Aaron Cox worried that having a celebration would seem in poor taste as so many around them mourned the loss of loved ones and tried to pick up the pieces of their lives.

'We still have friends and people we know who are still trying to put things back together,' Mr Cox told CBS News

'It was meant to be!' Mr Cox's sister Sarah said. 'There were signs. That's what we decided.'

And so the couple tied the knot surrounded by loved ones in the First United Methodist Church on Saturday as planned.

Right after the monster tornado hit Mr Cox and Ms Watson shot a video of both running down their street desperately searching for his sister. Her home was completely destroyed in the storm.

But, dressed in a black bridesmaid's 2 she was there on Saturday to see her brother get married against all the odds.

'It seems like there were a lot of obstacles thrown in our path, but we finally made it,' Ms Watson told the news channel after the ceremony.

Her stunning white 1 with intricate beadwork, was the only 3 to survive in the twister.

After checking that both families were safe she found the ruins of the store where her 4 was being kept, but thought there was no chance she would be wearing it on her big day.

‘So she crawls in through a broken window and I’m waiting outside for her. She emerges a few minutes later with this big grin on her face.
