I am not engaged to a prince short cocktail prom dress , or anyone for that matter. Nor do I expect millions of people to watch my wedding — when it does happen.

But like any girl, from Brooklyn to Britain, I have an inner princess. And that princess got to try on gowns fit for royalty at Kleinfeld Bridal in anticipation of Kate Middleton's big day.

It is widely speculated that the 29-year-old princess-to-be will wear a dress designed by one of two British female designers: Sophie Cranston of Libelula or Sarah Burton of Alexander Mc- Queen. So I decided to take matters into my own hands.

After stylist Mike Viggue from Sally Hershberger Downtown miraculously gave me a Katelike 'do masquerade prom dresses 2012 , I headed to Kleinfeld on W. 20th St. in Chelsea in search of dresses fit for Ms. Middleton.

The dress had a classic silhouette, beautiful lace detailing and just enough sparkle. The second dress was far more dramatic — strapless gold sequin prom dress and way more expensive — than the first.

The $25,000 Pnina Tornai ball gown was also a bit heavier: As it weighs around 30 pounds in satin and tulle, it's hard to imagine Kate walking down the aisle in something this extreme. But still, the full skirt and fl ower detailing made me feel the most regal I did all day.

The third dress seemed the most like modest Kate's style. It was a classically designed Pnina Tornai gown, priced at $9,800. With an A-line satin skirt, detailed beading on the top and a bow in the back, the dress was simple and yet very elegant.

Topped with a $450 Erin Cole tiara, it felt the most like something Kate might wear to say "I do."
